This 2-3 hour course is required to be undertaken yearly by those in health related professions including GP and Dental Practices. It is also undertaken yearly by all nursing staff, and is usually run in-house, although if your workplace does not have a suitable place to hold the course we will happily host it for you at our training premises in Headingley. Underwood Training runs regular training sessions for clinical places such as Wheatfields Hospice in Leeds.
It is suitable to use for CPD purposes. Courses are run in-house at your premises for a group of up to 12 persons to 1 trainer.

The Medical Emergencies course can be added if required.

Course outline:

  • Introduction and context to workplace
  • Basic Life Support Heart Attack – practical (if your workplace uses pocket masks and/or bag and mask, we will run the training with this equipment rather than teaching “mouth-to-mouth”)
  • Chain of survival and theory
  • Basic Life Support Non Heart Attack (if applicable)
  • Treatment of an unresponsive casualty
  • Choking

Tailoring to your workplace:

A number of our clients have requested that we cover choking within the session as this is often a concern – particularly in dental practices! We feel that there is time to fit this into the 2 hour session as most students are updating their skills and pick up the practical components very quickly. For some workplaces anaphylaxis has been requested due to the procedures/drugs that are used on the premises. Please discuss your requirements at point of contact.
