Persons using an AED should receive regular training - it is recommended by the resuscitation council that this should be at least yearly and "preferably more often" (see http://www.resus.org.uk/pages/faqaed.htm ).

Underwood Training believes that it is important an individual is trained using the same training model of AED as they will have to use in their workplace in an emergency situation. For that reason we only run this course in-house. If your workplaces does not have a suitable space to hold a course, we can host the course for you at no addtional cost at our training premises in Leeds. Our course includes the following content:

  • Update on CPR techniques
  • Use of appropriate adjuncts e.g. pocket mask, bag & mask and if available airway adjuncts e.g. OP airways
  • Theory - when and how to use an AED
  • Safety issues
  • Practical application of the training AED on a manikin
  • Aftercare - what to do after utilising the AED
  • Maintenance of an AED

If you are considering purchasing an AED for your company, please contact us and we will support you in working out what is necessary for you to make this happen. A medical adviser, regular update training and access to a training AED model of the same make when purchasing the AED are all considerations that must be addressed as well as issues of emergency procedures, location, accessibility and storage.

The Medical Emergencies module can also be added to this training course - for more information on this please see the Cardioplulmonary Resucitation (CPR) +/- Medical Emergencies page.
